1. Write at least three questions related to your book. Make sure you are writing thinking questions that show you are thinking about plot development and character development. Start your questions with I wonder why if that will help you.

2. Have a discussion with your parent or an adult about the book you are reading. Tell them your favorite parts and what you think of the book. For your response, note whom you have the discussion with and have them initial the entry. (No more than twice in a week)

3. What do you think is going to happen next in the story? Explain with details from the story.

4. What are your favorite lines/quotes? Copy them into your reading log and explain why these passages caught your attention.

5. If you were going to recommend this book to a friend, what would you say was the best part about it? What about this part made it stand out from any other part? Be sure to describe the section.

6. Describe a situation where a character made a choice and explain why you think the character did this? Why did the author put this in?

7. In your own words, write a summary of the section you just read. Include a topic sentence and three main points in your summary. Remember to use transitions to connect your ideas.
